Backtracking

I got to Salt Lake in the fall. I thought I remembered it being 2010, but now I’m not so sure. I had been commuting from Provo to Salt Lake /Sandy area for a few months. So, I was so glad to be anywhere in Salt Lake instead of making that horrendous drive every day. The drive itself wasn’t so bad when I got to carpool with my buddy Trevor (His music taste was the worst part), just kidding Trevor. To be honest, I shouldn’t have glossed over this apartment of guys that I bonded with the last few years I was in Provo, so I guess I should backtrack just a little bit.

Trevor, Kai, Danny, Jake. Trevor, Kai and Jake are three of the best guys I’ve met. When I first met Trevor, and I think when anyone first meets Trevor they are immediately drawn to his HUGE personality. He is funny and ridiculously goofy, a ball full of energy and also someone you can sit down and talk to and have real meaningful conversations with.

He lived with a few different roommates while I spent time with him but Kai and Jake are the ones that were there the longest and I think the ones I connected with the most.

Kai is ironic and snarky but, also is happy to sit and chat. No one is really a stranger to Kai, unless you don’t try get to know him at all.

Jake was and is the quiet one. The one that seems a little mysterious but is maybe just a little shy or to himself.

Danny and Nick were also there for a time as well but were the first two to move on and get married.

These guys had perfect timing, or maybe I should say, the Lord had perfect timing in bringing these guys to me. They moved in just after my ex got married. They were in the same apartment he vacated so it was a natural route for me to walk. I came to spend lots of Saturday and Sunday afternoons hanging out with this group of goofballs and when new roommates would move in, would always drag them along to the apartment so that they could get to know these guys that made my next few years easier.

Kristin and Celia and Faith were also huge influences at this time. They were my roommates when I got released from the hospital. They gave me tremendous support and encouragement when I was at my lowest points.

I remember when I was sick from Chemo or just feeling particularly down about my current lot in life, Trevor would bring me over a coke, or some homemade food or he and Kristin would do something completely random and off the wall that would always leave me in better spirits. The Lord truly is aware of each of us and our circumstances and always sends us exactly who and what we need at the time. It just might take us some time to see it ourselves. These beautiful people will always hold special places in my heart as they were instrumental in me being able to see myself as the Lord sees me
