The Quiet Years

Believe it or not, there was a period of time, right after, and while I lived with Kevin (probably because I had the support of family in the form of a brother and a dog) I didn’t have any major issues with my health. I was able to enjoy life. For a time, I was doing the best I could, given health circumstances, weight and environment. These years were some of the bests of my adult life. Yes, as everyone, there were downs, but the ups were more frequent than they had been since high school or thereabout. I went on dates, made friends and thrived. I eventually “graduated” from a young single adult ward to a Single Adult congregation, and while the transition is always a hard time, it was the best decision I ever made. I met Hailey. She was one of my very first friends in the Single Adult ward. We were both brand new and bonded almost instantly. We sat next to each other every Sunday until we were both able to make some additional friends, and our ward was split. Even after the split, we have remained great friends. She spent more time with me in the hospital than anyone else up to this point and has always had my back as far as health concerns go. She is another one of my miracles. It was during these quiet years that I started falling in love.. with the mountains. I was able to do a little hiking and spend more time outside as my health was not always in jeopardy and the mountains and forests became my refuge and resource for natural peace and healing.

It was in January 2018 that I went to the hospital with my first round of pneumonia. It was kind of a nightmare. I spent a week in the hospital at this time. My second round of pneumonia, almost a year later to the day came with complications. Hailey, Lisa, Melissa and even Becky (all of whom who I will talk about later) spent time with me while I was in the hospital.
