Meaningful Conversations

I think this has been on my mind for a while. I love the new technology and ways to connect with people from around the world, however, I feel like through connection and showing only our very best selves in every situation, we have lost the ability to actually connect on a meaningful and deeper level. With every artificial connection that is made a real genuine and meaningful connection is made less necessary.

I, oftentimes, find myself in search of a real, genuine friendship or connection. Fortunately, there are others out there looking for that as well and a few of us have found each other. A group has formed out of necessity for plant-based eating and as this group has formed, there have not only been genuine connections formed, but the genuine connections formed have created an easy platform for hard conversations, more person to person communication and less time staring at the phone. Honestly, its something that I never want to lose.

Granted, it doesn’t always have to be in this format, but I do feel the younger generations are missing out on insights, people skills and different ways of thinking that can only come through personal conversations with people.

Tonight I hosted this very dinner group. We had 9 participants. Phones weren’t included at the dinner table as an unspoken rule. We all came to participate in conversation, eat delicious homemade food and create bonds with one another. It was refreshing and, in my opinion, something that we need more of.

I made a salad and chickpea truffles. Both were delicious. The chickpea truffles were taken directly from this recipe and were loved by everyone. Give them a try if you are feeling adventurous.
