So, you want to try plant based? Vegan? Vegetarian?

It’s not always easy to know how to change your lifestyle, especially when it comes to food. Giving up meat, dairy and and even eggs often leaves large gaps in people’s knowledge, and there can be struggles with making substitutes. It’s something I still struggle with as well.

Here are some that I’ve found that work great for me.

Monk fruit sweetener is a great substitute fot highly processed sugars and its twice as sweet, so if using be sure you take into account.

  • Bananas or applesauce for eggs.
  • Diced mushrooms and diced nuts make great meat substitutes for tacos, lasagna, etc. and are an easy protein to add in.
  • Jackfruit makes delicious “pulled” bbq sandwiches
  • Chickpeas can be blended and mashed as another great meat substitute
  • Oat milk is a good sub for milk or cream
  • I also enjoy almond milks and often use them as a substitute. However, I find oat milk is better for a thicker substitute.
  • Substitute Zucchini or Eggplant for noodles
  • I eat honey, but if you want to remove that, agave nectar is a good substitution or maple syrup, depending on which flavor profile you are going for.
  • Carrots and potatoes and nutritional yeast are often subbed for cheese because of their texture and flavors.

This is one of the vegan meals I like the most…
