The Mediterranean Dash

Okay, after some serious research… still ongoing and visiting Utah, I decided to change up the way I’m feeding my body. I am still eating the majority of vegetables, but due to feeling sick to my stomach more frequently than not, along with the weak feeling from not getting adequate or proper nutrition I made the decision to switch to a Mediterranean/Dash based eating plan for the time being.

Research indicates that patients with kidney problems should be avoiding orange foods, and tomatoes and potatoes should be eaten sparingly due to their high phosphorus makeup. Phosphorus, proteins, and potassium are hard for CKD sufferers to digest, and a build-up of these ingredients can cause an over absorption of calcium, which cause problems with the release of waste in the system. I also looked up foods that can harm the heart and blood pressure since those are also conditions I have a history of. The medditerranean and Dash diets were the closest plans that I could match to all of my situations combined.

I’ve felt better since starting this new eating plan. Either way, I suppose starting something new and fresh can be good to jump-start the metabolism. I’m not seeing my new Nephrologist until December so I’m hoping that this new plan combined with the months/ years of a plant based diet can actually show up on my tests. I’ll keep ya’ll updated.

In other news, I have a part-time job and have had lots of interviews since arriving home.

Tests have come back negative for seizures, and Cancer so far. On hold to get a neurologist to perform additional tests and possibly get my license back.
