Tales of a DUFF.

Okey dokey, I know this term generally has a negative connotation, but I’m sick of the negativity on the internet, so I’m doing something about it in my own little bubble.

For those who don’t recognize this term, it stands for designated, ugly, fat, friend. The one in the group that is maybe awkward, different, or a little chunkier or just plain weird. When referenced, it is usually to indicate that others around them are prettier, more accomplished, smarter, etc. Nope. We’re done with that explanation. DUFF in my world, and maybe yours too now means Definitely Underestimated Fantastic ( or funny) (or fiesty) (or fabulous) Friend. You get to choose your own positive adjective to represent what that friend means to you or what that friend does or is that is overlooked because of their looks or abilities.

After seeing the movie in the 2000s, I often saw myself as the DUFF (in the negative way). I don’t want to see myself that way anymore.

I know my worth. I am an intelligent, creative, hardworking, and ingenuitive person. I’m working hard to be healthy take vand to make the changes in my life that allow me to succeed.

So take that Hollywood. I’m the Duff in a positivrand I’m proud of it.
