If we are going strictly by geography, the mountains are quite the standalone compass. When you live near the mountains, like I did for 18 years it was easy to know if you are headed in the right direction based on where the mountains are in relation to you. However, if we are talking life and spiritual direction that answer is a little different. While the mountains may represent a place for guidance and direction for some, and even at times I found myself going to the mountains to find peace. The real source for peace, direction and guidance in my life is through God. They often say, if you want to talk to God, pray, and if you want God to talk to you read your scriptures and then wait.
I’m not gonna lie, waiting is hard. Being patient and hoping for the answers you are looking for is not easy. It’s even harder when you don’t get the answer you want and realize the path God has for you is a lot different than the one you initially had for yourself. coming to terms with the idea that your life may be a whole lot different than the one you originally imagined for yourself is one of the hardest pills I’ve had to swallow.
The best way I’ve found to re-align myself when I discover things aren’t going my way, or the way I had initially planned, is to just make a move. Any move. Just do something. When I have the wherewithal to just make a move in a direction, any direction, it seems that answers present themselves much more quickly and clearer. So, when you don’t know what direction to go, just make a move.
