So Happy Together

I’m in my late thirties, but my parents invited me to go to a concert with my aunt when I first got home in August. It was a tour of bands from the 50s and 60s.

It’s safe to say that, even though I was raised on a lot of “oldies” music, I only recognized about 3 or 4 songs, but it was fun to see my parents get into the music being played. It was especially fun to see so many people in their 60s getting really pumped by the music, although, the volume was set to be entirely sure this age group could hear the music being played, which, even for a 30-something was a little intense. As a 30-something, I also enjoyed seeing the variety of outfits, ranging from full-on raging hippie to rock and rollers.

More recently, I was able to see a “live” performance of children (a talent show) playing piano, singing and presenting art of all types. It was very inspiring to see the future of the country in the hands of these talented kids. There was singing, piano playing and a quite impressive demonstration of an engineering project developed by a 10-year-old.

Having enjoyed both of these things, from such opposite ends of the spectrum I believe it goes to show that there are many forms of art, and especially live art that can be appreciated by the creative soul.
