Unconventional Legacies: Beauty in Adversity and Acts of Kindness
Daily writing prompt
What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

I’ve struggled with the idea of leaving a legacy as a childless single woman. However, especially as women we often find our legacy limited to children. I think my legacy is so much more. in fact, I’m writing a book right now about my many life struggles with health, and life in general. If I can get this book to print this is a legacy I can leave. It doesn’t have to be an international best-seller to make an impact on one person. I think even if you create a better life for yourself that is an accomplishment that could be considered a legacy worth leaving.

Do you treat others with the same or better kindness than you have received? Do you rescue animals? Do you teach children? Do you help rather than harm on social media? Do you donate to shelters or donation centers?

Our legacy doesn’t have to be a grand presentation of our “goodness”. It can be something as simple as continuing to press forward through the things we think we cannot endure.

My legacy will be the small and simple things I do that create a grander effect on the world around me as a whole. The trash I pick up on the side of the road, the children’s hands I hold. The friends I impact with my example. the grandeur of a life is often found in the tiniest moments repeated with frequency to create a masterpiece worth studying and sharing.

I think it was Mulan’s father in the infamous Disney movie who said, the flowers that bloom in adversity are often the most beautiful of all.
