For someone who has been like…. nowhere outside of the United States this is kind of an unfair question, becuase my immediate answer is everywhere. However, when I actually think about somewhere I’d be able to go and spend some time and enjoy myself I can think of a few places that top the list, and they are not your typical tropical destinations (well some of them are).
- Take me to Switzerland. I recognize I am not nearly in good enough shape to be able to hike the Alps, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to at least get the view of these magnificent mountains and a little fresh, clean air to go along with it.
2. This is one I’ve been thinking about for years, but probably don’t talk about a whole lot. Austria. Ever since I watched the Sound of Music as a wee girl 🙂 I have wanted to visit this country. Fascinatingly, there are Alps in this country as well, and they may be more to my liking I’ve been told.
3. Spain has always intrigued me. I love its proximity to the ocean, along with the Spanish style houses and beautiful cathedrals, along with the culture and potential discovery of ancient ruins or general archaeological discoveries makes me want to visit and see what is in store. Many people don’t know that for a few years as a teen and young adult I very much wanted to be an archaeologist. I wanted to visit Greece, Rome and the Czech Republic to excavate castles and ruins.
4. This is one of more “tropical” locations for all you people who are horrified that I haven’t listed a tropical destination yet. New Zealand. I mean, have you seen the Lord of the Rings movie? Now, don’t get me wrong, of course, I know that there is significant movie magic in that film, but I also know that no matter how much you want argue that it isn’t as cool as it seems. I will always believe New Zealand to be one of the most beautiful locations on the planet until I see otherwise.
5. Last…. yeah, I am only giving you ONE real tropical country, deal with it. Fiji. No explanation necessary.
