Give me Juice or Give me Death!

So, this fall I’ve been getting some pretty bad allergies. Worse than before I left Indiana, and I never had allergies in Utah, even with all the cottonwood trees. I have also discovered, my body doesn’t want me to be under my current weight. I have tried vegetarian, I have tried smoothies, and now I’m trying juicing. I recently went to my Lupus doctor. He let me know that, according to my last test results, my kidneys aren’t really doing that well.

So, I asked him what I could do to help my kidneys. He gave me two courses of action. Medication or Weight Loss. I have successfully avoided adding another medication to my routine to this point by eating vegetarian. However, the weight loss, is another story.

I know my body and that it is pretty stubborn. I am trying a combination of things with the hope that I may see some results. I am juicing, exercising and intermittent fasting to see if kidney resolution and weight loss can be gained together.

Anyway, while the title of this post is meant to be amusing, it’s not entirely too far from the truth. If I can’t get my kidneys back on track, I will have to add a new medication to my routine and possibly dialysis. Nobody wants this…

Regardless, I ordered a herbal remedies book from somewhere, and am hoping it may have ideas as well. For now I am giving juicing a try to see if something can finally give me some results.

I am juicing a combination of cucumbers and other vegetables, but a side note on cucumbers. These are my absolute favorite. This gives such a fresh flavor to the juice.

Anyway, cucumbers, both red and green cabbage, apples, *specifically green, celery, peaches, plums, pineapple, ginger and beets.

Drinking this in the morning, has given me a pop of energy. Instead of putting a shot of sugar into my body in the form of caffeinated drinks or food, I am nourishing it in a healthy way.

I guess what it comes down to is this. I am trying to be a better steward of the body I have been given and hoping that with better stewardship, my body can work better for and with me.

Do any of you have any good juice recipes? Have you gotten any results with your chronic conditions or weight loss?

Heidi you might try adding KID-W from Pure Herbs to your herbal arsenal. It’s pretty amazing for kidneys as it has helped mine through Lyme disease. Love ya! Rhonda LeClere
