The last few years have been tough, if you’ve followed my story at all, you know that. However, something that I have been working on is making changes that will benefit my long term growth. Some of these changes including studying languages. I started doing this because a large number of Haitians moved into the area. I wanted to be able to communicate with them in their own language.
I haven’t become fluent yet. However, I have gained the skills to sit in a conversation between two Haitian people. I can understand much of their conversation.
I have also signed up for educational courses to increase my marketability in the job market.
In January I went back to the gym. I did it to help both my mental and physical health. Has it worked? I haven’t necessarily lost pounds. However, I am confident that I am making muscular gains. My clothes are fitting more comfortably and I am more confident in myself.
I have also been searching for a better job for over two years at this point. This week, I decided to use some resources available to me. I joined an active job seekers group. This group has provided me with opportunities for mock interviews. It has helped me make new connections and get assistance with resume building.
Changes don’t always yield results immediately. But I believe the changes I am making will result in positive changes in the long run.
