Just in time for Halloween I created a crime scene. The rhinal rocket story.

While yes, this is meant to be comical, it also feels extremely true. Over the past 12 days I have had SEVERE nose bleeds, in which I bled for 10 minutes or more, at a high rate of speed, 5 separate times. Each of these times I left a mess that looked like a crime scene. Three of these times I was no in my own home.  I know some people are like, why are you telling the world this? I have hard time with my memory since my stroke, so this is my way of making sure I remember things while they are fresh and then I can come back and read them later.

And, let’s be honest, I don’t really have enough followers to have people believing the whole world knows my tales of woe.

Anyways, I didn’t get a picture, and you should all be happy for that, but my first trip to the hospital happened last Wednesday while I was hanging out with this cute guy. Oliver.

It started around 10, and by 10:45 I was loaded into an ambulance and on my way to the emergency room. I had blood coming out of my eyes because the pressure I was using to try to staunch the bleeding pushed the blood up through the eye hole.

This bleeding went on until 2am when they finally placed a rhinal rocket in my nose…. not as fun as it sounds. This stopped the bleeding. And it remained stopped for the most part until Sunday evening when I had another hour and a half session of joy.

Just another Manic Monday was when the worse one so far hit in earnest. I went to the hospital to have blood work done. I have this done about once a week.  While I was waiting to be called back for the blood draw, it happened again and I ended up being escorted to the emergency room in a wheelchair where I sat for about 30 minutes bleeding heavily into a vomit bag until they finally came to see what was going on.  I continued to bleed for another 8.5 hours until they decided they didnt know what else to do so they put in another rhinal rocket and shot me to another hospital via ambulance and sirens to see if the other place could provide better assistance.

Fortunately, that worked. They simply swapped the rhinal rocket to the correct side and the bleeding stopped. 😫

So, after 9 hours of bleeding, the moral of the story is make sure you know where the blood is coming from.

Can’t have a full on hospital story about rhinal rockets without at least showing you one.

Also  just in case you are wondering the rhinal rocket is a 1 star would absolutely not recommend. It is horrible going in.

Anyway  I am supposed to go get my nose chemically cauterized tomorrow. w I didn’t even know chemical cauterization was a thing. It sounds like they just put a chemical in my nose that stops the blood vessel and then I can go about my merry way.

Anyway,  if you’ve made it through all this without gagging or giving up, congrats. I have learned  I am grateful for a few things in all this.

I am grateful I am not affected by the sight of blood.

I am also grateful when a nurse at the hospital looks at me, at one of the very worst times and says, ” I would have never guessed your age right.  You look 25.”

This is not how I looked in the hospital. But this was Sunday.  Can I pass as 25?
