Its no secret I have lots of health issues, by now, if you’ve read any of my blog you know that. It’s probably also not a secret that I have been struggling financially for years due to these health conditions and stingy 9-5 jobs that are only worried about their bottom line, and not the little guys” beneath” them. Because of this, I have taken the leap a little bit into entrepreneurship recently to help me pay the bills. I have found some things that work and some things that don’t. However, just because one thing didn’t necessarily work top notch for me, doesn’t mean it won’t for you. Here is what I have found, through many weeks and months of research as some of the best ways to make a small side income online, and maybe if you are lucky, turn it into a full on passive revenue stream.
**NOTE** This is not a fast income strategy. This will take work, time, and probably some funds to get started.
- Create an e-commerce store selling your hand made or drop ship items. The following websites allow you to to this:
- Shopify.com – Here is my shop. https://wandergirlco.myshopify.com/
- Square – Lets you sell in person and online.
- Woo Commerce
- Wix
- Etsy
2. Become an affiliate marketer. Affiliate marketing is essentially the service paying you to do their work for them. You can make money for getting people to purchase items on Amazon through your affiliate link. You can do this for websites such as
3. Put your skills to work using any of the following websites where people come looking for specific services. If you can give them that service, they pay you for your work.
- Upwork – They need everything from sales and marketing to SEO content writing, design, translation and even administrative support.
- Fivver is much the same as Upwork. But with Fivver you can also use voiceover skills, website design, transcription, mixing and mastering of audio tracks and even illustration skills are put to use.
- Pexels, I’m sure there are some extremely talented photographers out there that want their photos seen. Pexels is a great way to create at least minimal income from your photography skills.
- Contena.co this one is just for writers looking to get a gig.
4. Get paid to read. I don’t know about you guys, but for an avid reader like myself, this one is right up my ally. There are a few websites that are happy to pay you for your honest review of new books. These are just a few of the MANY websites that pay you to read and review.

5. Clean out your Closet – This is one that I believe can be both fun and freeing. If you are at all familiar with Marie Kondo, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Her method for cleaning out your closet de-cluttered my mind and my life. Even better, if you have clothes that are still in good enough shape for other people to wear you may be able to make a profit selling them on Poshmark or ThreadUp or even The Real Real if you are more bougie than I am :).
6. Create a Blog and Monetize it. Clearly this has not been my method up to this point, but I think there is a place for everyone when it comes to creating content that others enjoy and monetizing your blog is as easy as placing links that drive traffic to other websites that will pay you to send them advertising.
7. Publish your Book online and Sell it through Amazon or another online source.
These are just the ideas I have researched and found for myself. If you know of additional resources I’d love to add them to my list. Additionally, I will keep my eyes open and update this list as new options continue to break forth in the ever-expanding marketplace.
