Call me old fashion, but my name is not a name that everyone has, it is a name that is relatively unique and timely. I have always liked my name as it reflects the culture of my ancestry and gained international fame due to the Joanna Spyri book of the same name, that was later adopted into a movie.
Did you know that Heidi is the shortened version of Adelaide and was generally never used as an English name until after the orignal movie release featuring a girl who lived with her grandpa in the Swiss Alps.
Heidi’s meaning is “of the Noblest Kind”. When I was in elementary school, I found a definition that stated Heidi meant warrior princess, I haven’t been able to find that again, but if you’ve read any of my blog, you know that kind of describes my battles in life. I have to be a warrior to get through and succeed at most of the tests I’ve been handed.
I think if I HAD to change my name, it would be only to the longer version of Adelaide, and then of course, as I said above, I’m old fashioned and would gladly take the last name of whoever I marry. There is my long and short answer. I am happy and proud to be called Heidi.
